My fav coffee shop has the best mug, and whenever I visit I always hope that my coffee will be in this mug. Today was one of those days. Good start to my weekend.

A funny sign I found in front of my co-working space. Only funny because it sums up what it’s really like there. If you’re not plugged in to your laptop, you’ll stick out and seem “weird”

My name tag came in for my co-working space today, and I met lots of people through the magic of Swedish cookies and nice notes. And I brought this friend with me to my workspace today. He’s my loose leaf tea accessory. Just stuff tea in him and he acts like a tea bag. This is what I don’t miss about working exclusively from home: the lack of opportunities to meet people the non-icky salesy way. All I have to do is join a table and I can talk or not.

Looks like this queen street restaurant is trying to appeal to the work from home/ remote work crowd. Bet you anything that Behind that door are 30 to 40 dollar meals and 10 dollar drinks. When this space starts offering the same perks as my co-working space, such as generous coffee discounts and free meeting space it will be worth my time.

My co-working space is already starting to feel like a home away from home. Got up early to get a really good recording space for my podcast episode with @boldandpop and I found this cozy small nook over by the stairs. Doesn’t look like much but man was the couch comfy, and people quickly figured out I was recording and kept the volume down. Sort of funny to use new age technology while sitting beside a phonebook, something I haven’t seen since the 90s.

It took so many years, but finally...a freckly woman in an ad as mainstream as an apple ad. Zoom in a little on her face and you’ll see the freckles. When I was a girl, it was pretty hard to find a freckly woman in any mainstream media. It wasn’t until Sairose Ronan showed up in Hana and I went to Iceland and saw an ad at the airport for Icelandic apple juice with a freckly red head that this happened (in my lifetime).

Mentally prepping myself for a podcast guest appearance this afternoon on a podcast. Since the topic is my own personal experiences with tough feedback and rejection and how I’ve leaned to push forwards despite it, I took myself out for a good, brisk jog. Because I’ve learned that if you want to be raw with strangers, via something you know will be public nothing does the trick like exercise. Yes that’s me in the picture FYI.

Most adorable attempt to get customers in the door I’ve seen all week. As seen on the way back from my downtown jogging route.

Spent my Friday looking at the possibility of co-working with an open mind. Haven’t formally made up my mind, but worked from the space that’s number one on my list. And honestly, I’m impressed. A staff member gave me the exclusive tour and it seems like a great environment. Might actually give this a shot for a while at least.

Interesting find in front of an elementary school on my walk to the cafe where I got my breakfast, while exploring Washington. Interesting because there were children smiling and having an awesome time in the playground, and cheerful pictures and colours on the walls. So this looked super out of place.

Found this when I was taking a break to get some coffee. But honestly, this embodies my passions. When I was a little girl my mom ran a chain of diaper store while raising two kids, and when my parents couldn’t get a babysitter my “babysitters” would be film crews working with my dad. So I think as I get older I care really deeply about small businesses and it breaks my heart when I see big hearted small businesses close down because of high Toronto rent prices.

My Facebook masterclass on pitching website editors, bloggers, and businesses 101 ( for introverts) is happening live this week. I’m totally over the hurdle of my first live, and am excited to share my experiences as someone who has done a lot of pitching and has received a lot of pitches (99% of them were really bad). Here’s the outline I prepared (in my handwriting only some people can read). Feel free to zoom in if you can’t read it!

After a morning of podcasting, here’s my beautiful workspace for the next few hours at least. Always a pleasure to visit one of my favourite local coffee shops as an incentive to not have to make working from home have to be from home all the time. You can either opt for co-working or do what I do and opt for non-home based spaces from time to time.

In my latest blog post, I used actual examples of pitches that freelancers have sent to me via email and LinkedIn (and don't worry names and contact info have been omitted), to demonstrate how not to pitch your services to businesses. Hopefully you can learn something from the mistakes that these freelancers made. Visit rosiewritingspace.com if you want to read it.
